## Introduction

For many people learning is something that is inevitably interlinked with torture, fear, stress, and boredom, bringing up the memories of struggling with differential calculus, linear algebra, and (please, don’t run away after this) logarithms. If you still hate thinking about preparing for the essay on the subject “The death of The Nebuchadnezzar II and its effect on capitalism in the 21st century.” this article will help you **make your learning flourish**.
 
In today’s society, it is essential to pursue life-lasting learning and build healthy learning habits to be able to stay up-to-date and avoid feeling discombobulated by dozens of informational bombs. We have to understand that **learning is by itself a skill** that can be trained, strengthened, and even loved and cherished.
 
## Why are my ideas reliable?

If put simply: **I’m a nerd**. I love learning in a bunch of different ways, including online courses, books, research, tutorials, and just plain conversation. And as we will learn further down the road: it’s a pretty good idea to teach others when it comes to what you love AND what you are trying to learn. 
 
In recent years I’ve finished more than 10 online courses: starting from first aid and finishing with real-estate management. I’ve read even more books on productivity and time management and watched so many YouTube videos of the same content that will be enough for an Azkaban prisoner to keep entertained for the rest of his life. I think it would be wiser to spend this time with my family, but the point is, **I have something to put on the table**.
 
My whole life experience of learning will be squeezed into 4 simple concepts that I find effective when trying to learn something new. So, as one wise man brilliantly put it: _“Happiness can be found in even the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”_, meaning, of course, the light of knowledge. Any ideas on the quoter?
 
### 1. Be your own CEO

One of the main CEO’s responsibilities is to **have a strategic, overall vision**. It is a no-brainer that having a clear plan with direct milestones, long-term objectives, and short-term plans can be beneficial for the company, and the same applies to the learning path. 
 
Also, business managers in general are responsible for problem-solving and you can steal some of their bread and butter, like a **5W1H method** to figure out:

* What do you want to learn? _E.g., [Machine Learning](https://edleed.com/catalog/category/IT%20%26%20Software?subcategory=Computer+Science&study=Machine+Learning)._

* Who is involved in the learning process? _E.g., you, the tutor, and your co-students._

* Where are you going to learn? _E.g., [the University of Michigan](https://edleed.com/catalog/provider/The%20University%20of%20Michigan)  (found on [Edleed](https://edleed.com/) )._

* When are you going to learn it? _E.g., 3 times a week for an hour and a half._

* Why do you want to learn it? _E.g., to change your current profession._

* How are you going to learn? _E.g., through online courses and materials found on [Edleed](https://edleed.com/) (of course)._
 
Finally, every CEO has to evaluate the results of a company. Introduce a system of KPIs to **track your performance** and conduct quarter and annual reviews on your learning experience. By the way, you can embrace the same pattern in other aspects of your life and easily become the nerdiest person in a room.
 
### 2. Diffuse the confusion

We all know that feeling when you have only 12 hours before the exam and 10 bottles of Red Bull in your stomach, ready to learn it all.
 
Surprisingly enough, it is not the most efficient way to study, on the contrary: one of the worst. You see, an average **person can concentrate for about 25-30 minutes persistently**, meaning that out of 12 hours of cramming you will get 11 and a half hours of inefficient learning and maybe some increased blood pressure.
 
Studies have shown that we are most effective at our learning when we combine 25-30 minutes of hard, focused work and 5-10 minutes of diffusion: playing around, eating a banana, or arguing with your spouse. **Switching gears between focused and diffused** mode can be one of the most beneficial things for your learning, combine it with diffusing with something you love as a treat for your accomplishments, and you can finally get going.

### 3. Teach and be taught

One of the most underrated, however, most effective techniques is to **teach somebody else something you are trying to learn**. To be more precise: if you can explain a complex concept to a 5-year-old, then you’ve mastered the concept.
 
But in general, when you are eager to teach others you:
1. Do more preparation not to lose face.
2. Understand the material better by repeating.
3. Evaluate your knowledge and spot your weak points.
 
Also, we usually tend to underestimate our knowledge and believe that anything that we can understand is plain as a pikestaff to everybody else. Which it is not, believe me. Printing “hello, world!” could be a mission impossible for an enthusiastic ex-plumber, so helping him out can not only give you a decent friend and free faucet repair, but also a more holistic understanding of the subject.
 
### 4. There is no body B

Last, but not least, is to **keep your body healthy**. Never underrate the power of good sleep, healthy meals, and regular hydration. These things can make wonders and can kick your learning game up a notch. 
 
Also, what I find easy and helpful is to **sharpen your mind** by playing quick brain games to increase your concentration _(check out brainexer)_, practicing mindful meditation _(it is okay to start with guided 5-minute meditations on YouTube)_, and just simply taking 3 deep breaths to activate your awareness before the learning sessions.

## In conclusion

Honestly, I just fell in love with learning and since you are trying to hit on it, I feel proud and jealous at the same time.
